My name is Nicolson Morency; I was born in Port au Prince, Haiti In July 20, 1986. I’m the first born of my siblings; I have two brothers and two sisters. When I was 2 years old, my mother left the country, to fulfill purposes that are still being unveiled. I was raised by my grandmother, while my mother was doing her best to bring me to the states.
I always had a passion for art and design. As a kid, I would draw on anything and everything. I still remember the first piece, it was car made with rectangular shapes, my cousin thought me. I grew up on Disney movies; they had a big influence on me as a young child. They became my main source of inspiration, which in turn develop into other source of inspiration. I went from drawing Simba to drawing real lion and I became fascinated by these animals. Wild life became the main focus of my inspiration.
When I turned 15 years old, I had the opportunity to leave Port Au Prince. My grandmother had just passed away, and I was moving to a different country. I was a very stressful transition; but God was making ways for me. I Graduated from Redan High School in 2005. After I graduated, I felt that I had a responsibility to fulfill my dream of becoming an Artist. I enrolled into a small technical college name DeKalb Technical School for graphic design. After a few months I decided that a certificate was not enough to compete in our current world.
You know, sometimes when things don’t seem like it’s going your way, it’s usually a sign that you need to change your direction. I had already enrolled and took the required test to enter another school for Computer Information, but for some reason they had a problem with my financial aid. In the midst of fixing the financial aid problem, I got a call from American Intercontinental University. I was a bit skeptical about American Intercontinental University, but I decided to give it a chance. Everything went through with a hitch, letting me know that I had made the right decision. My dream of becoming a designer was almost complete.
I graduated from American InterContinental University in 2013. Now I work mostly as a freelance designer and I’m the lead designer at Baros Inc. I have been with the Baros for a few years and knew the owner before the Inception of the company. I also had the opportunity to work with an apartment company name Somona Ridge, remodeling their blueprints. Now I work with a nonprofit organization know as NAHP. Looking forward to the experience that God is going allow us to live.
